SATURDAY, JUNE 1, 2013Everychild Accessible Playground Play Day!
Join children and families from all over Los Angeles at our Everychild Playground Play Day on Saturday, June 1, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Playground is located on the grounds of Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital, 2400 South Flower Street, Los Angeles, 90007, at the corner of Flower Street and Adams Boulevard. Entrance to the facility is on Adams Boulevard. Admission and parking is free.
Hosted by Las Ninas de Las Madrecitas, a support group of LAOH, the day will include integrated play, face painting, arts and crafts, entertainment and treats (feel free to bring a sack lunch).
The Everychild Playground at Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital is among the few accessible playgrounds in Los Angeles, where children with disabilities have the opportunity to play with their peers with typical abilities. While children enjoy the accessible equipment, parents and caregivers have the opportunity to meet, form bonds and share common experiences with other parents and caregivers. The Everychild Playground was funded by a lead gift from the Everychild Foundation to accommodate children with physical and/or developmental disabilities. The nearly half acre, wheelchair friendly, playground features sturdy foam ground cover to protect children from falls, colorful slides, tubes, bridges, swings, interactive puzzles, a quiet area, a dragon mister and lush landscaping for children ages 2 to 12. Through a joint use agreement with the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, the playground is open to the public 7 days a week.
