Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital (LAOH) hosted its annual Volunteer Recognition and Awards Luncheon today to express gratitude to the volunteers who give their time and talents to the institution. Held in LAOH’s Andrew Norman Hall, the theme of the Luncheon was “We Stand and Cheer for Our Volunteers,” reflecting the special spirit that LAOH volunteers embrace and enhance day-in and day-out. The event also celebrates volunteers who have reached
milestone levels of volunteer service hours. Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital President and CEO, Anthony A. Scaduto, M.D. presented each milestone honoree with an award and a gift.
Volunteers at LAOH come from all parts of Southern California and they include high school students, adults, members of support groups, and medical and graduate students. They work in one or more of the many LAOH departments providing clerical or administrative support, and reading to pediatric patients or leading arts and crafts session, among other duties. They also work in the Thrift Shop, shadow physicians and nurse practitioners; all helping to ensure that no child will ever be turned away from Orthopaedic Hospital.
Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital is one of the largest pediatric orthopaedic programs in the country. During 2011, LAOH volunteers contributed more than 13,000 volunteer hours.
